The UPLB Department of Industrial Engineering, represented by students Yzzan Mae F. Souribio, Gomer J. Fonacier, and Miguel Darwin DC. Lapitan, won 1st place in the 12th PIIE CSC Regional Congress Inter-University Quiz Competition last February 5.
The quiz competition is part of the annual regional congress organized by the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers – CALABARZON Student Chapter (PIIE CSC). This year’s theme was “PRIMED: Industrial Engineers Thriving Across the Digital Landscape.” This is also the second time that the said congress, including the quiz competition, was held online.
The other schools who joined the quiz competition were Southern Luzon State University (2nd place), Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Biñan (3rd place), University of Batangas, Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sto. Tomas, Batangas, De La Salle Lipa, and Batangas State University – Alangilan. The top 3 schools are set to compete again in the upcoming PIIE National Student Congress in March 2022. With this, Team UPLB will continue preparing with their coaches, Asst. Prof. Angelo C. Ani and Engr. Franz Christian S. Velasco.
Since 2015, UPLB has been consistently securing a spot in the top 3 in the regional quiz competitions organized by PIIE CSC. This year is the third time that UPLB was able to win first place in the said competition.
