UPLB IE Department starts the Department Assisted Internship Program in collaboration with its alumni and ITS Surabaya Summer Camp for Midyear 2021

The University of the Philippines Los Baños Industrial Engineering Department (UPLB IED) started last July 13 its third modality of internship for their students this Midyear 2021. Aside from the other two internship modalities, this program was initiated by the department in collaboration with its alumni and partner university Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya Indonesia.

The program is divided into three parts which includes workshops from the alumni, workshops from the faculty members, and the Summer Camp of ITS. It aims to immerse the students with a unique internship experience wherein they will be exposed to the processes done in different industries through the alumni, be exposed with different faculty experiences in industrial fields, and be encouraged to think critically and globally to promote sustainable development amidst the pandemic.

The program started with an opening remark from Dr. Josefa Angelie D. Revilla, chair of the UPLB Industrial Engineering Department. It was followed by Engr. Marc Joseph S. Villanueva to explain the details of the alumni workshop. Next, Dr. Diana Marie R. De Silva explained the details of the workshop to be facilitated by the faculty members. Lastly, Engr. Alan Marco S. Mercado explained the remaining part of the program regarding the details of the Summer Camp: Ingenious 2021 Industrial and Systems Engineering for Global Innovations.

The set schedule for this internship is from July 13, 2021 and expected to end on August 20, 2021.
