The UPLB Department of Industrial Engineering conducted its first formal industry consultation on August 25, 2022. Through a focus group discussion joined by experts from various industries with different specializations, the online event was conducted with the purpose of reviewing and enhancing the UPLB BSIE program.
The program formally started with the opening remarks from the department chair Dr. Josefa Angelie D. Revilla. It was followed by a brief introduction to the event and the department which was discussed by the host and event head Asst. Prof. Clarissa M. Pesigan.
The consultation-proper was then divided into two parts. The first part focused on the overview of the BSIE program including the mission and vision, program educational objectives, program learning outcomes, and curriculum; the second part focused on the evaluation of the courses being offered by the department. In each part, the industry experts were grouped and assigned into breakout rooms to allow for a more focused and in-dept discussion. In addition to identifying the expectations of the industry stakeholders from the BSIE graduates and evaluating the alignment of the curriculum and courses with the industry needs, another goal of the event was to strengthen academe-industry collaboration. With this, the department hopes that there will be more collaboration opportunities that will benefit both the department and the industry partners.
